"Home access to ICT for young people for their education should be a right, not a privilege, and the e-Learning Foundation is determined that every child in the UK has the same opportunity to succeed in their studies."

Lord Mitchell, Chair of the e-Learning Foundation

Did you know that in the UK today :

  • 1.6 million school age children live in homes without a computer or an internet connection
  • 30% of all children live below the official poverty line
  • 37% of those without a computer live in single parent households
  • Children with home access to a computer and the internet are 20% more likely to get five A-C passes at GCSE than those without

The e-Learning Foundation is the only national charity dedicated to ensuring that every child in the UK has home access to learning technologies for their studies – and in doing so, eradicating the 'digital divide'. In the last eight years we have supported over 420 schools to provide over 100,000 school age children with personalised learning technologies to use at home and at school.   However, over a million children still cannot go online at home.

We are now appealing to companies, trust, foundations and individuals to support our work to bring social justice to this generation of school children. By supporting us you can help transform the lives of children giving them the resources and the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Why help us?

  • Your help will transform the lives of some of the most disadvantaged children in the UK, giving them a better start in life and improving their opportunities for the future.
  • You can help to develop a well trained and equipped workforce for the future, giving children and young adults the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the 21st Century job market.
  • You will be helping build stronger and more robust communities in areas of acute urban - and rural - deprivation.
  • Share in our mission to bring social justice to the millions of young people in this country who are missing out on the educational opportunities that learning technologies can provide

We are extremely grateful to the many organisations and individuals who have kindly supported us over the years, including Microsoft, DSGI, The Mercers' Company, Virgin Media, Vodafone Foundation, Becta, Microsoft and Department for Education. We are also grateful to Lloyd's Charities Trust, The Abbey Trust, Motorola and the Nominet Trust who have become our most recent supporters, providing much needed funding to help support our work.

Now you can support us
every time you sell something on eBay...

All you have to do is select the e-Learning Foundation as your chosen charity when you list something to sell. You can then decide the percentage of the final sale price that you would like us to receive.

Every time you list an item for charity, you will also get a fee credit on your both the basic insertion and final value fees equal to the percentage you donate. So, for example, if you donate 50% of your selling price to a charity, eBay will waive 50% of your fees. That’s not all. eBay will also give you a fee credit on your basic insertion and final value fees equal to the percentage you donate every time you list an item for charity.

eBay for Charity listings are the same as any other eBay listing, except for the blue and yellow eBay for Charity ribbon in search results and your chosen charity’s mission statement and logo in your listing. This means your listing can be seen by everyone who searches through eBay.co.uk. It will also get extra visibility through the eBay for Charity pages.

This is the perfect way to make a difference for the e-Learning Foundation while doing what you do every day on eBay, whether you're a fishing enthusiast selling angling gear or a big business trading electronics.

Help us with your next sale – an d every sale.
