Autumn 2010

Hoo made the enable lease package work for them?!

The Hundred of Hoo School launched their first e-learning project to Y7 parents in September this year to a 235 pupil cohort. The school was delighted with the response from the many parents who chose to support the e-Learning project. Rob Pitman, Learning Technologies Leader, has championed this project for several years and is eager to roll the scheme out to other year groups in 2011. An initial launch has already been made to Y8 parents.

At the time of the launch the school was in Special Measures and expecting an Ofsted visit. The awaited inspection was concluded in November 2010; Ofsted detailed the progress that had been made and was able to remove the school from Special Measures. A huge achievement and a proud moment for all the staff.

Rob has chosen Toshiba devices and will be assisted by the e-Learning Foundation ENABLE lease in conjunction with Investec Bank. The e-Learning Foundation will collect the parental donations and claim Gift Aid that will help cover the administration costs of the programme . The donations collected by the e-Learning Foundation through the Donation Management Services will be used to repay the lease and parents will have the option to purchase the devices at the end of the scheme

Rob is convinced that embedding technology into the core of the curriculum will be a key part of the continuing success of the school.

During the recent snow shutdown they were closed for almost a week. Despite this a large number of the pupils logged on to the VLE and carried on with their education with specially set 'snow work'.
