Classic Quarter Ultra Marathon
Success Story
Walter Featherstone and Nicholas Anderson (formerly of Motorola) took part in the Classic Quarter Ultra Marathon on the 24th June 2010. This is a 44 mile race from Lizard Point to Land’s End along the South West Coast path in Cornwall. We ran the event in aid of Motorola’s selected charity, the e-learning foundation. The current sponsorship total is (including gift aid): £349.73
The great news is that we completed the challenge as a two person relay team in 8h 9min 53sec. We were the second relay team to finish (missing gold by only 7 minutes) and have medals to prove it! In total there were 100 finishers. Although it was a beautiful day, the hot weather certainly increased difficulty as indicated by the 24 retirements on the day. We both ran the London Marathon back in 2004, but this was definitely on another level especially due to the off-road nature of the trail. Thankfully the beautiful coastal views and the promise of refreshment at Land’s End were enough to keep us going and complete this fantastic event.
Our thanks go to Nick & Walt for their valuable contribution to our cause.
Please note that their sponsorship page is still open and accepting donations:
