Parent Information

Parent Contributions

Schools do not have the funding to provide every pupil with their own computer for use at home as well as in school. They are under no compulsion to do so. However, some schools feel strongly that their pupils should have this level of access, knowing what a difference good access to ICT can have on a child's education results. However, most need their parents to agree to contribute towards the cost. The good news is that many schools can spread that cost over a number of years, making it affordable to the vast majority of parents.

Parental contributions are treated as charitable donations, because there is no direct link between the donation and special access rights to school ICT resources for their own children. Children of non-donating parents should have exactly the same levels of access to school ICT resources as those of donating parents, unless those parents have chosen to opt out of the programme.

A convenient way to contribute is to pay by direct debit. The direct debit facility means that once you have signed up to your school’s e-learning programme you don’t have to remember to organise payment every month or quarter. It’s easy and convenient.  All you have to do is give us a few basic details on the Donation Form provided by your school:

  • How much you want to donate (your school will recommend a suitable amount)
  • How often (monthly, quarterly, etc)
  • How many payments in total you want to make (so a three year programme would be 36 monthly or 12 quarterly payments)

Make your donation go further!
By signing a Gift Aid declaration (as long as you are a UK tax payer) we will be able to add 25% onto the value of your contribution. This helps the school with the administration cost of the programme and ensures that every penny you donate goes towards the children’s e-learning programme rather than also pay for overheads.

If you are able to, reducing the frequency of donations you make slashes administration charges for the school. If you can pay quarterly, or annually, then more of the Gift Aid will go to your school.

Benefits of paying by Direct Debit
If an error is made by the e-Learning Foundation, or your Bank or Building Society, then you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount made.

You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society.

Understanding Direct Debits

Benefits
Almost half of UK bill payers prefer Direct Debit because it has so many advantages. So what exactly is Direct Debit? It's a simple way to pay regular and occasional bills and it's all done automatically, so you don't have to worry. And not only is it convenient for you, it's also really simple and safe!

All you have to do is complete a Direct Debit Instruction to the e-Learning Foundation through the school. On the form you will agre the amount you wish to donate and the date the payment will be collected from your bank or building society. Once that's done, the money is deducted regularly. But don't worry - we can only take the amount you've agreed, and if you need to change the amount or the date of collection you just need to contact us.

  • If you wish to change any of the the bank details then you will need to notify us in writing or by email.
  • We cannot change anything without having your authority first.
