90% Parents Impressed With Home Access Programme
at St Peter’s CE Primary, Telford
90% of parents said they were ‘impressed’ with a home access programme introduced by St Peter’s Church of England Controlled Primary School, Bratton, Telford - which in under a year has got all Key Stage 2 pupils on board.
The project was the brain child of Head teacher Rod Dean, backed up with advice and a grant from the e-Learning Foundation. Initially the project involved the school’s Year 3 and 4 pupils, but with incredible support from parents and teachers it has snowballed to provide all Key Stage 2 pupils with home access for their studies.
In the survey 99% of children said they ‘enjoyed’ using their net books for their studies and had seen their IT and keyboard skills improve. Over 70% of parents said they regularly see their children using their net books at home for their studies.
The school has worked hard to ensure that the programme enhances the learning of pupils at all levels. It has developed a variety of content on its Learning Platform and actively encourages children to log in from home.
To simplify the programme, the school has from the onset used the e-Learning Foundation’s Donation Management Service (DMS) to collect parental contributions and therefore avoid an administrative burden.
