Ofsted: Students let down by teachers' tech skills
Students are being let down by teachers' tech skills when it comes to using computers in design and technology classes (D&T), according to Ofsted.
Ofsted visited 89 primary schools and 89 secondary schools, finding just over a quarter of primary schools and fewer than half of secondary schools made "good use" of computers and other technology to support students' work in such classes.
The best schools offered computer-aided design and basic programming, but not all students had such opportunities to learn. "Lack of teacher expertise meant that this was not widespread and, as a result, learning experiences for pupils were limited," the report said.
